Gladding McBean of Los Angeles, California produced the trademark "Franciscan" dinnerware tableware and china from the 1930s until 1984.Some of their most popular Franciscan handpainted earthenware pottery patterns were: Hacienda Gold, Apple, Desert Rose, Ivy. Gladding McBean used a variety of markings. Items from the 1938 period were marked with a capital "F" in a square and the words "Made in the USA". A script "F" (for Franciscan) with double lines was used in later years. The pattern called It's a Breeze was manufactured from 1959 until about 1963. The Hacienda Gold and Hacienda Green patterns were introduced in 1962 and continued production until Franciscan closed in 1984.
