Vintage "Made in Japan" collectibles are novelties, ceramics and porcelain that were produced before WWII and after 1947. Determining the age of Made in Japan collectibles can be tricky. Markings are inconsistent or nonexistent. Many had paper labels instead of stamps. Consider color, weight, and glaze for clues as to age. Generaly, more colors are found on older items (it was more expensive to produce more colors). Heavier and thicker items are generally older. Items with deep, solid color lustre glazes are older. Bright colors, imaginative designs, and humor make Made in Japan collectibles endearing.
