Russel Wright was an American industrial designer. He designed several lines of dinnerware, tableware, china and aluminum. His designs were produced by pottery companies during the period of 1939 - 1959. Steubenville Pottery Company produced his best known design called "American Modern" It is wildly popular among collectors. Iroquois China Company produced his "Casual" line. Many of his designs carry his signature in cursive on the bottom. Oddly enough, his spun aluminum was not popular during his lifetime, but is highly valued by collectors today.
